What an incredible cartoon. The backgrounds and compositing are really great, the sense of movement in the skiing is especially strong and way overshadow the tiny bits of chop here and there (which all feel right where they are anyway and the keys for this are great anyway). The ending just made me go "well, that's probably exactly what I'd do" Plus the little self congratulatory sounds the skier made put a smile on my face. That mysterious hunter was also really nicely designed.

That shot of the light through the trees is so good. Also the frantic bit with the lemon makes my skin crawl (in a good way). The little fox is really cute and you really captured the sometimes esoteric nature of dreams with some some really great backgrounds too!

I'd love to see your original draft for this because I understand the nightmare that is compromising for jams (the real bad dream i guess) and it definitely feels like you originally wanted it to go further with it. That being said, I think you did great and what you got in the end was great!

This is really cute and charming. The character designs are great, the action is well implemented, especially the last punch. I really dig rhythmic editing like yours. Plus, as a mecha fan, this was extra fun! I also love how you connected this to Prisoner of the Clairvoyant. I'm eager to see how you connect them all.

I did notice a slight disconnect in style between your clean, slick, modern animation and the emulation of the 1930s. The aesthetic was there, but it didn't feel like a 1930s cartoon. That's not really a point against this really great cartoon, and not that you had to actually stick that closely to it, I just noticed it because there were attempts to do 30s era movements.
I'm just thinking about it because your cartoons are clearly made with thought put into them, so I feel like it would be a shame to not think critically about them!

Excited for your next one!

This is really charming and fun!
The performances are fun, the character designs are neat. The animation ramps up in really pleasing ways. I really enjoy the work done on the explosions and a big spell at the end. The disintegration on the people and vehicles was great!

Characters and setting feel like well trodden ground, so it was simple to follow and just get lost in the technicals of the animation without having to get bogged down with complex writing, which I know is the point. I really like what I see and want to see this stuff get fleshed out without deadlines and thesis grades on the line, because this can be the start of a really fun series!

I have a real softspot in my heart for Yu-Gi-Oh!, so it was a lot of fun seeing so many people working together to bring their own flavour to it. Great collab all around.

I'm really enjoying this series. Simple, clear love of Flash, neat backgrounds and making use of cinematic language. I also like the ever expanding cast of weird side characters. Although being the only member of most of my friend groups pursuing art for a living, I'm always paranoid about looking like Tito to people, relatable as well

I want more nighshift Charlie, this is great. You're getting more technically proficient with each one of these!

Really funny and to the point. How did you get the effect when Tangy Mustard talks backwards? Is it drawn or did you use After Effects?

Aaron-Long responds:

You mean the vibration? That was a combination I think of doing transparent copies of the shot in Flash and then also maybe some light After-Effects.

The amount of work you put into this really shows. Those detailed paintings do a good job of capturing a Christmas special type vibe and the character animation was great. You also managed to make a politically tinged cartoon that was at least, fairly even handed over the usual overdone dross that people normally make.

I like your character design and your narration. The sound quality needs a little improvement and the third act didn't look as good as the rest did and struck me as unfinished and the payoff wasn't for me although it was mitigated by the short run time of the cartoon.
I liked the "didn't explode out of his mouth...yet" angle. Just didn't grab me personally with that bit. but I really liked the way everything looked and moved and I'm keen to see more, I like your style!

Voice actor, animator, artist. I'll always post my best stuff here.
